NORTH ANDOVER, M.A. – Merrimack College Men's Lacrosse head coach
Mike Morgan announced a new team member signing 5-year-old Liam through Team IMPACT.
Liam, who was diagnosed with Spina Bifida, was officially introduced at a signing day press conference on Wednesday, April 12
th. He will participate in many activities with the team including games, practices, and other team events.
Team IMPACT, a national non-profit organization, has developed a unique multiyear program that matches children facing serious illness and disability with college athletic teams across the country. Based on a clinical model, Team IMPACT guides a symbiotic relationship between teams and children focused on socialization, empowerment, and resilience.
"Team IMPACT is excited to see Liam officially join the Warriors," said Danielle Hardee, Regional Director of Programs, Northeast at Team IMPACT. "We are proud to work alongside Merrimack College, their athletic department, and coaching staff to create lifelong bonds and life-changing outcomes between student-athletes and their Team IMPACT teammates."
Merrimack College has worked with Team IMPACT for the past 12 years, matching 32 children across its baseball, men's and women's basketball, cheerleading, football, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's rugby, men's and women's soccer, softball, women's swimming, tennis, track and field, and volleyball teams.
"What Team IMPACT does is amazing and we are honored to be a part of it," said Morgan. "Having Liam on board this season will benefit our team tremendously. We can't wait to see him on campus."
