MANSFIELD, Mass. – The 2019 Merrimack College men's lacrosse team has been inducted into the NE10 Hall of Fame as announced by league commissioner Julie Ruppert on Thursday morning.
The 2019 Warriors team finished with an outstanding 12-2 regular season record before heading into the NE10 Championship. The regular season included a masterful, nine game winning streak to propel the Warriors to a first-place finish in the conference. Merrimack would reach the semifinals of the NE10 tournament that year before a one goal loss to Le Moyne. Still, the blue and gold found their way into the NCAA Tournament with a chance to make history and repeat as National Champions.
The opening round of the tournament was a matchup with Mercyhurst in which the Warriors handled to the tune of a 16-5 victory. They would go on to take on Adelphi winning that game 14-12 to advance to the semifinals. An NE10 semifinals rematch with Le Moyne is what was ahead with a shot at the National Championship game on the line. Merrimack got their revenge against the Dolphins seizing the win in thrilling fashion off of a
Christian Thomas overtime game winner. The Warriors now found themselves back in the National Championship game for the second consecutive year, this time playing against number one seeded Limestone. The Warriors controlled much of the game in route to a 16-8 win to cap off their second straight National Championship.
The 2019 Merrimack men's lacrosse team goes down in history as one of the most dominant teams of the era. The team featured numerous program greats such as Charlie Bertrand, Sean Black and
Christian Thomas among others who helped guide the Warriors to back-to-back National Championships.
