MILFORD, CT – Senior
Kendra Daily won both the 50- and 100- yard freestyles and freshman
Julia Tejeda won the 1000 freestyle as the Merrimack women's swimming & diving team picked up wins over St. Peter's and the University of Bridgeport at the Friendsgiving Duals quad meet on Saturday.
The Warriors split with the two MAAC opponents at the meet, defeating St. Peter's 162-112 and falling to host Sacred Heart 187-93. Merrimack defeated the University of Bridgeport 188.50-79.50.
"We've lost a couple of heartbreaking close meets this season, and we knew both Bridgewater and St. Peter's had some very talented swimmers, so we wanted to make sure we flipped the script today," Merrimack coach
Erin Cammann said. "Everyone was very focused, and the team did a great job winning the close races, which is something we didn't do as well in some of our earlier meets. I think we're in good position for our mid-season invitational, which is just two weeks away."
Daily won the 50 free in 24.80 and the 100 free in 54.50, along with swimming the anchor leg on the 200 freestyle relay that finished second (1:43.42).
Madison McAloon,
