Men's Volleyball Triumphant Over Dominican University

ORANGEBURG, NY- The Merrimack men's volleyball team picked up a win over the Dominican University Chargers on the evening of March 20th.

How it Happened

The Warriors were down early to start the first set. However, they battled back to be within striking distance of the Chargers. Logan Whitaker would get three kills in a row early in the frame, leading the comeback attempt. Ephraim Abhulime heated up and went on a points streak halfway through the set. The end of the frame was a back-and-forth battle. Logan Whitaker would contribute to the tally again and tie the set at 24 late in the set. Kai Vogel, Ephraim Abhulime, and Nick Tidik kept the Warriors in the game with spikes of their own. Merrimack surged ahead with a big spike from Ephraim Abhulime and a service ace from Isaiah Vogel to win the back-and-forth frame by a score of 34-32. 

The second set saw the Warriors pick up where they left off. Ephraim Abhulime and Isaiah Vogel added the total for the blue and gold early on. Reece Lindstrom had two kills in a row halfway through the set, contributing to the Warrior's tally. Logan Whitaker and Kai Vogel led the charge in the middle portion of the set, emphatically solidifying the lead for the blue and gold. Ephraim Abhulime and Isaiah Vogel teamed up for a big block late in the set for point 20. John Clinton and Ephraim Abhulime had kills at the end of the set, pushing the Warriors to a dominant set 2 victory, 25-13.

The third set was another close contest early on. Ephraim Abhulime put together two service aces in a row. The dynamic duo of Isaiah Vogel and Kai Vogel added to their point total with more kills. Nathan Knapp and Nick Tidik got involved in the set with kills of their own. The Warriors kept their foot on the gas the whole way, keeping the lead for almost the whole set. Kai Vogel got the point at the end of the set to put the cherry on top of a successful outing for the Warriors. They went on to win set 3 by a score of 25-22.
