SMITHFIELD, R.I. The Merrimack College men's track & field team competed in the two-day Black & Gold Invitational hosted by Bryant University at the Track and Turf Complex on Friday and Saturday.
How it Happened I Friday March 28
- The Warriors clinched the top two spots in the men's 10000m run with Sean Moore finishing first in 31:32.02 and Aidan Dupill taking second with a time of 31:44.20.
- Jack Lombardi also recorded a strong performance in the 10000m, crossing the line in 32:29.53 for a PR in the event.
- Owen LaRoss led the Warriors in discus, finishing top-five with a PB mark of 45.66m while teammate William Bierden threw for 39.93m for 18th.
- In men's hammer throw, Jared Ptaszek recorded an 11th place finish with a mark of 51.71m while teammate Jude Ibarra tossed for 41.10m, good for 30th place.
How it Happened I Saturday March 29
- The Merrimack 4x100 squad of Manny Mahoney, Tyler Fortune, Landon Crowley, and Cory Couture finished first with a time of 42.09
- Cory Couture won the men's 200m dash with a time of 21.73 seconds while teammate Tyler Fortune finished in third (22.39).
- Carson Mighty and Landon Crowly finished back-to-back in the 200m dash, Carson in seventh (22.68) and Crowley in eighth (22.70).
- John Elie Jr. won the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 14.56 seconds.
- DJ Walsh led the Warriors in the 3000m run, finishing fifth in 9:52.19. Junior Chris Moriarty logged 13th after racing 10:40.61.
- In the 1500m run, Reidar Aageson finished 18th after racing a PB of 4:05.88 while Michael Alleva secured 22nd, punching in at 4:07.96 and Ryan Dyer took 33rd (4:10.99).
- Riley McGoldrick secured12th in the 5000m run with a PB time of 15:42.30. Will Shahbazian also had a personal best in the event, finishing 21st with a time of 15:59.77.
- Fortune led the way in the men's 100m dash with a time of 11.04, good for seventh place. Landon Crowley and John Elie Jr. finished 11th and 12th respectively recording times of 11.25 and 11.29.
- Blake Hickey finished seventh in the 400m hurdles after racing 58.18 seconds.
- Merrimack also found success in the field, as Evan Thevenot finished sixth in triple jump, recording a distance of 11.90m.
- Kyle Adams recorded an eighth place finish in shot put after tossing for 112.79m.
- Brian Gallagher led the Warriors in long jump, finishing 12th with a mark of 5.77m.
