How It Happened
It's game time for the Warriors as they play their second game this weekend in Connecticut.
Sophia DeBonis helped a few different Warriors earn kills quickly, racking up three assists. The team found themselves in a hole to start the first half off, but they quickly tied it up after a huge team block. The Pioneers continued to struggle offensively, and the Warriors took advantage of those errors to retake the lead. The blocks kept coming as
Marissa Kobelski added on three block assists to push the lead out to four. The Warriors stayed hot to finish the set and cruised to an easy victory.
After a strong first set the Warriors looked to extend their lead in the match. The Pioneers came out of the gate hot going on a 7-1 run to daze the Warriors. This time around it was the Warriors who were making the errors as Sacred Heart began to pile it on. A couple kills from
Mckenna Shotwell weren't enough as the Pioneers blitzed the Warriors in a second set rout.
Looking to have a turnaround set, the Warriors quickly jumped out to a 7-4 lead. A couple kills from
Jocelyn Hammerstrand helped them get there. The Pioneers took advantage of a few Warrior errors, but they quickly cleaned it up to regain the lead. Two straight service aces from
Lilly Konrad helped pad their lead up to four again. In the face of defeat, Sacred Heart tried to make a comeback but was shut down when
Morgan Thurlow tallied two straight block assists and a solo block to win the set.
On the verge of their first conference win of the year the Warriors fired off five straight points, putting themselves in command of the lead 6-1. The Pioneers were able to mount a comeback, but the Warriors didn't lose the lead. All-Star setter Konrad helped the Warrior effort keeping them in command of the lead. Three straight kills from
Aubrey Baker pushed the lead out to three and the Warriors didn't look back. A last-ditch effort from Sacred Heart failed as the Warriors took the fourth set and the victory.
