North Andover, MA-- The Merrimack Women's Hockey team begins the new calendar year with a brand new opponent as they will face the Bemidji State University Beavers on January 3rd and 4th at Lawler Arena with both games being at 7 PM. Merrimack collected one point in their last series against Providence just under a month ago with two 3-2 defeats, one coming in overtime.
Junior forward
Emma Pfeffer notched one assist in Merrimack's last game against Providence to enter the new year with the point lead, with 12 in total (5 goals, 7 assists) Emma also continues to hold steady a top the entire NCAA in powerplay goals with those five goals.
Senior
Avery Anderson scored her third goal of the season in the second game with Providence, which was also her first goal since October, Anderson currently holds the team lead in assists with eight for 11 points in total.
The trio of
Jordan Nishi,
McKenzie Cerrato and
Cameron Crawford were involved in both goals that Merrimack scored in their first game against Providence last weekend as
Jordan Nishi's goal to open the scoring was the first of her career and Cerrato tied the score late. with both players assisting on each other's goals and
Cameron Crawford getting two assists, the first two points of her college career.
Merrimack freshman goaltender
Lauren Lyons had her second 40+ save performance of the season in her last start against Providence on Dec. 6th, making 42 saves. As well as keeping Merrimack in the contest, she also picked up her first NCAA point as she assisted on Merrimack's opening goal by
Avery Anderson, Lyons assist was the first for Merrimack goalie since
Calli Hogarth did so on November 8th 2024.\
