North Andover, Ma—The Merrimack Women's Ice Hockey team re-enters Hockey East play this weekend after a loss and tie to Bemidji to start the new year as they play their fourth and fifth home game in a row against Vermont this weekend.
Senior
Avery Anderson factored into both Merrimack goals in the 2-2 tie with Bemidji as she scored the opening goal and had the secondary assist on the second goal. With that game, she moves into first place on the team in assists with nine and first in points with 13.
McKenzie Cerrato has been key for the Warriors in last stretch of games as she's been a point per game in the last four contests with points in three of those four games. She comes into the weekend with 4 goals and 4 assists for 8 points as she gets ready to face her former team for the first time.
Hailey Eikos is the other Warrior getting ready to face her former school, as she currently sits tied for second in assists with eight and third in points on the team with 10.
Maria Lindberg was the other Warrior who had a point a game the previous weekend against Bemidji State, as she had an assist in each game.
Merrimack freshman goaltender
Lauren Lyons received recognition the previous week as Sports Illustrated named her as a part of the Hockey East Rookie team at the halfway point of the season. Lauren has given the Warriors solid starts in her first season at Merrimack with four 30+ save effort's and two appearances making over 40 saves.
Merrimack won two of the three games between the two last season including a weekend sweep at Vermont last October.
Maria Lindberg scored last season with
Solveig Gisler and
Emma Pfeffer had assists. Also former Catamounts and current Warriors
Hailey Eikos and
McKenzie Cerrato also scored goals in the matchup.
