Women's Hockey Enters Conference Play Against Boston College Wednesday

NORTH ANDOVER, MA-- Merrimack enters conference play after an 11 day layoff against the Boston College Eagles on Wednesday afternoon, looking to bounce back from a weekend sweep against Union. This game is the first of only two road games Merrimack has in the month of October. This game can be seen both on ESPN Plus and NESN.

Freshman goaltender Machala Musty has taken the net in the first four games, starting three and playing all but one period. Despite a 1-3-0 record, she's played the fifth most minutes of any goalie in the conference as well as sitting in the top 10 in GAA with a 1.94. Musty also began her Merrimack career with a shutout in her first start and reached over 135 minutes before allowing her first goal.

Senior forward Emma Pfeffer will reach a career milestone tomorrow afternoon as she takes the ice for her 100th Merrimack game. In 99 career games, Pfeffer has 31 points (15 goals, 16 assists) with a career high  and team leading 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists) coming last season. Pfeffer also finished in a tie for sixth in powerplay goals (7) nationally the previous year.

Junior forward Madison Vittands has six points in the first four regular season games, with two multi-point games, which is good for a tie for fourth place in the Hockey East points table. Going back to the previous season, Vittands has nine points in her last seven regular season games, and she also had a hat trick in the preseason contest against Stonehill.

Merrimack dropped both games they played against Boston College last year, falling 2-1 (goal scored by Mady Cipolla) and 4-0 on Oct. 25 and Nov. 22 respectively. The Warriors lone victories against the Eagles have come in Lawler Arena winning 5-3 on Feb 1. 2025 and Dec 8. 2018. Merrimack nearly had their first win at Conte Forum last season in rather unique circumstances as an arena issue forced their game with Vermont on Jan. 10 to be played there, but after taking a 3-0 lead, they settled for a 3-3 tie and shootout loss.
