Carlile Named To 2026 IIHF United States Hockey Team

NORTH ANDOVER, MA-- Former Merrimack defenseman Declan Carlile (Hartland, Mich.) was named to the 2026 United States Hockey team that will participate in the 2026 IIHF World Hockey Championships that begin on Friday afternoon.
 
Carlile played three seasons for the Warriors, logging 83 games played for the Warriors, posting 13 goals and 43 assists for 56 points in that time, leading all Merrimack defenseman in points in all three seasons he played in. Carlile also received conference honors as he was named to the 2019-20 Hockey East All Rookie Team.
 
After going undrafted, Declan has played his entire professional career in the Tampa Bay Lightning organization, as he's played 211 games for the Syracuse Crunch and 46 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning, including playing 42 games for them this season as well as two playoff games.
 
Carlile has also been named an alternate captain for the Crunch over the past two seasons.

Carlile joins Stephane Da Costa as the only other Merrimack alumni to play in the IIHF World Championships.
 
The United States are currently the defending winners of the tournament and will begin their official play on Friday against Switzerland. All games can be seen on the NHL Network.
