Sophomore forward Liam Walsh of the Merrimack College men's hockey program has been named the Dunkin' Athlete of the Week following a two-goal performance to lead the Warriors to an upset win over #16 Providence Sunday.
Walsh tallied a pair in the first period against the Friars down in Rhode Island. His power play deflection goal got the Warriors on the board, then he finished off a pass from Ryan Nolan later in the frame, which turned out to the game-winning goal in the 3-2 triumph. For his efforts, Walsh was tabbed the Hockey East Co-Player of the Week, which was the first weekly honor of his career. The Bridgeville, Pa. native has been a steady offensive presence, as he now has six points in his last six games.
