Rapid Recap
The Warriors were looking to bounce back after back to back losses against one of the best teams in the nation playing an undefeated Harvard Crimson squad. The first quarter was one to forget and clearly not the start Merrimack had wanted to jump out to. They fell behind 2-0 before
Brian Bouwman netted one to slice the Harvard lead in half. It was then the home team scoring five unanswered to end the first quarter going up 7-1.
Trace Hogan was able to respond and get the Warriors back on track with a goal early in the second quarter but it was a quick response from Harvard. The teams would trade goals and MC would go into the halftime break down 11-4.
The second half started with a Harvard goal before two quick strikes from the Warriors by
Brian Bouwman and
Jack Rooney. The two goals from Rooney and Bouwman helped cut the deficit to six and shrink the lead to the smallest since early in the first quarter. However, Harvard was able to get back their big lead by scoring 4 of the final 5 goals to close out the third quarter. The fourth quarter was a struggle for the Merrimack attack who were only able to tally one goal. On the other end of the field it was the defense that was unable to hold down a potent attack from the Crimson. The Warriors would end up dropping their third straight by a score of 23-8.
