For the first time in 2018-19, junior LÉA-KRISTINE DEMERS of the women's ice hockey program has been named this week's Fuddruckers Female Athlete of the Week.

Demers recorded her first career shutout last week in a 2-0 road victory at Quinnipiac University. Making just her second appearance of the season, the thid-year backstop stopped all 30 shots she faced against the Bobcats. Her effort dropped her goals-against average on the year to 0.75 while her save percentage improved to .974. Tuesday's game also marked her first start of the season, after her season debut came in relief as a part of Merrimack's 6-2 win over Holy Cross earlier this season.

Demers and the rest of the Warriors return to action this week with a home-and-home series with New Hampshire, beginning on Friday night at 7 p.m. in Durham against UNH. Merrimack will then host the Wildcats on Saturday at 4 p.m.
