For the first time this season, freshman guard Malik Edmead of the men's basketball program has been named the Dunkin' Athlete of the Week.

Malik Edmead ranked second on Merrimack in scoring (14.0 ppg) and led the Warriors in field goal percentage (.571) in a 1-1 week at LIU for the Warriors. Edmead also tied for the team lead with 12 field goals made. The most of the rookie's production came in Merrimack's second game against the Sharks, when he scored a career-high 23 points. The 23 points were the most in a single game for a Merrimack freshman since the 2016-17 season, and tied the single-game high for any Warriors in the program's Division I history. He shot 10-of-18 from the field, setting personal marks for shots made and shot attempts, while making all three of his free throws. The first-year guard did all of his damage in only 21 minutes off the bench.
