After claiming Women's Hockey East Defensive Player honors, senior Samantha Ridgewell of the women's ice hockey program has been named this week's Fuddrucker's Female Athlete of the Week.
Ridgewell played in every minute in net over the weeked, allowing just one goal in a pair of victories, showcasing exceptional play between the pipes for the Warriors. With her third career shutout Friday night to open the season, her 52 saves over the weekend boasts a .981 save percentage. Adding to that, Ridgewell's .50 goals-per-game average leads the WHEA, as she gave up just one goal in Saturday's 4-1 victory.
The Warriors look to take its momentum from opening weekend into its first road trip of the season, as they travel to Penn State for two games this weekend. Puck drop for Friday, October 5, is slated for 6 p.m., and Saturday, October 6, at 2 p.m.
