Senior Julia Dempsey of the Merrimack College women's cross country program has been named the Dunkin' Athlete of the Week after she came in second overall Saturday afternoon in a tri-race against Bryant and Sacred Heart in Smithfield, R.I.

She cruised on the 5K course to a pace of 18:34.1, which was the second-best time among a field of 50+ competitors. Her time also marked the best on the team and set a personal record for her cross country career.
