After earning both Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association East Regional Player of the Week, junior Thomas Joyce of the baseball program completed the trifecta by being named this week's Fuddruckers Male Athlete of the Week.
Joyce hit over .500 during Merrimack's 4-0 week in divisional play, leading Merrimack with an OPS of 1.344 from the No. 4 spot in the lineup. Joyce led Merrimack in RBI (7) and slugging percentage (.733), while ranking second on the team in average (.533), OBP (.611) and hits (8). Joyce hit the team's lone homer of the week - one of the inside-the-park variety - and recorded both three multi-hit and three multi-RBI performances over the four-game ledger.Â
He saw his average rise to nearly .300 on the season, resting at .299 on the year through 22 games. Both the NE10 and NCBWA honors were the first of Joyce's career. The Newton, Mass. native ranks second on the team in both home runs (3) and slugging percentage (.442).
Joyce and the Warriors play four games this week, facing Assumption twice and hosting AIC for a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m. at Saint John's Preparatory School.Â
